At the Quill
Sep. 10th, 2015 09:53 pm"No, move the boat now. Take it as far south as you can as quickly as possible. Yes, I know this is last minute but you need to get it out of here now," Robert said before snapping his phone shut, fully expecting his orders to be followed without question.
The weather was getting bad, incredibly bad, and he had a feeling it was only going to get worse. The wind and rain were harder than they should be this time of year and there were reports that a storm, a massive storm, was moving in on Siren Cove. Robert didn't think this was coincidence, not with all that he had seen going on in town. He had sent Gabby out of it down, farther in land, to keep her safe. She hadn't wanted to go but Robert had insisted, telling her he would be there as soon as possible.
If he could have he would have insisted that Corry leave too but he wasn't even going to try and have that conversation. It didn't even occur to him to have it with Grace or April, that would be as good as pointless. All he could do was tell them to keep safe and let him know if he could help with anything.
"Damned witch magic," he muttered as he looked outside from within the Quill, fully convinced that this couldn't be a natural. It was raining so hard he wouldn't be surprised if soon he couldn't sail his boat right up to the coffee shop.
"I don't think even an umbrella would help," he said, watching a waterlogged patron, the detective who had rescued Corry and was dating the (former) matriarch come in off the street, soaked from head to toe.
Levi, for his part, had been having a hell of a day. A hell of a week actually, and it looked like it was only going to be getting worse. His fist ached where he had just finished... questioning a potential lead. Resorting to violence was disgusting and immoral, especially for someone that could read minds, but he was at loose ends and not thinking straight.
There were bags under his eyes and while he had shaved for his date with Lara he felt utterly exhausted and slovenly. It felt like the entire town was falling apart and he was continually on the verge of pulling it back together. Siren Cove needed Lara as the matriarch. More importantly to Levi he needed Lara as his mate. He felt like he was tied to the town, the loss of something so important ruining both of them.
Checking his pocket he felt the bottle of pills there, almost completely empty. How many had he already taken today? Three... four? It didn't matter because right now it wasn't nearly enough.
"How much coffee can the human body actually handle?" he asked, rubbing his forehead with his hand. "Because I need to order the lethal amount minus just enough to keep me alive."
[Come talk to either Robert or Levi at the Quill!]

Gone Fishin' [Closed to Caden]
Mar. 30th, 2015 03:41 pmTruth be told, Robert was looking forward to going fishing with Caden. Keeping tabs on his oldest daughter aside he liked the young man quite a bit. He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and clearly thought a lot of April. He also seemed to just be a solid guy, not perfect or trying to be but just a good guy. Robert also didn't get the feeling that Caden was naive, nor was he overly cautious or paranoid. It made him pleasant to be around.
Which was one of the reasons Robert had invited Caden to come deep sea fishing with him. It was still a bit chilly out but not so cold that they couldn't go. Robert hard rented the boat and taken care of everything, all Caden had to do was show up. It was entirely possible that he would hear from April about how she didn't like him spending time with Caden but he almost looked forward to that if it were to happen. It would certainly say something about how she felt about both Caden and Robert.
In the meantime Robert was determined to enjoy the company and find out more about the young man. If they tried hard enough they might even actually have fun. As he waited for Caden at the marina and took care of getting the boat ready Robert smiled in anticipation of the trip. Whatever happened it was bound to be interesting.

[Closed to April]
Dec. 16th, 2014 03:58 pmRobert didn't expect April to accept his offer to come to his boat for coffee but was pleasantly surprised when she did. He would be even more pleasantly surprised if she actually showed up, but maybe he was projecting just a little bit. Robert had seen that same nature in April that he had, that instinct to cut your losses and distance yourself from inconvenience. In April's life Robert no doubt represented a major inconvenience at the very least.
He should mean absolutely nothing to her and part of him hoped that was the case. While he didn't begin to think that having the state take April and her sister away from their mother when they were younger didn't result in some issues he hoped that she felt apathetic toward him if anything. Not so much for his own sake- although there was a part of him that would be glad if she didn't hate him- he couldn't imagine it would be pleasant to carry around that sort of anger.
Corry had proven that much true. Not that it was her fault, having a reason to be that angry was all on Robert. How Corry had handled it was on her though. For a moment he wondered if April or Corry had dealt with it better but then he pushed that thought out of his mind. He didn't want to compare the two.
For now he would focus on April and some of the things he needed to say with her. It had all been weighing on his mind lately and he still wasn't sure if this was the best thing to do, but as far as he could tell it was probably the right thing to do.
So while he waited for her he busied himself in the galley, checking the temperature of the coffee every few minutes and rearranging the fruit in the bowl a dozen times over. Hopefull she would show up before he went insane.

The fog was the key. Whatever was taking people it was connected to the fog and it was connected to sirens. A few sirens had encountered the fog and felt it clash with their magic but at least one of the people that was missing was a siren as well. So while siren's were less prone to the magic they were not completely immune. Which gave Robert an idea. It was reckless and likely stupid and only someone desperate with an excellent grasp of their abilities and perhaps a massive ego would attempt it.
Fortunately, Robert fit all of those qualifications. His profession and often his life had relied on being a master of his abilities, he wasn't some human or child to be ensnared by another siren's magic, especially not when he was expecting it. Wherever the people were being taken to, Robert would find them.
But he wasn't stupid. He recognized that there was a chance something would go wrong and he wouldn't make it so he gave one of his crew two identical letters to deliver in case he didn't come back by morning.
I allowed myself to be lured away by the fog to find out where everyone was being taken. If I'm not back by now, I was likely taken. I'll do everything I can to protect the others.
One letter was to go to Corrine and the other to April. Robert hoped neither would be necessary. The most maddening part was waiting until night when the fog came out. Patience had never been one of his virtues and by the time he began to sense the fog he would almost have welcomed it taking him away just to stave off the boredom.
The magic was easy to find, although he's not sure if he would have paid much attention to it if he wasn't looking for it. Whoever was doing this was very strong and he had to admit a grudging respect. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, exactly, but he felt he'd know it when he saw or sensed it.
After a bit of waiting, he sensed someone coming up behind him and was surprised to see Corry there when he turned around. Had the letter been delivered too early? Did she have the same idea?
"Daddy? You don't have to do this. One of your contacts, he came to Lara and told here where everyone is. They're safe, you did it."
Robert was as much surprised at hearing her call him 'Daddy' as he was the news that everyone was saved.
"And I just- I just wanted to say thank you," she said, leaning in to give him a hug, clinging tightly to him. "When I really needed you, you came through for me."
"I suppose I should thank you too," said another voice. Turning to look, Robert saw April standing there, giving him an unsure smile.
"I didn't want anyone to take away someone that made you so happy," Robert told April. She hadn't asked him to look for Les or Caden, but he knew they were important to her all the same.
"I know, I guess deep down I knew you were doing this for me too even though I didn't ask," she said, giving a shrug before coming over and side hugging him.
"Maybe I was wrong about you, maybe you are Flynn Rider the hero."
Just past where April stood there was Abigail, rolling her eyes at him before she shook her head and came in to hug him as well.
"Nah, he's still an asshole," a fourth voice said and Robert saw Grace standing there, arms across her chest. "But maybe I'm not completely ashamed to have you as a sperm donor. But don't expect a hug."
Robert had to laugh at that and as he did, he felt a brush of something up against him. A sort of music. Bach's music. He couldn't see his son but Robert knew he was nearby and knew from his music that he was at peace.
"Just come home with us," a final voice said. It was a voice so familiar that always tugged as his heart, always made him feel so many conflicted things. Virginia always had that effect on him. "I know I haven't talked to you much since you came back but I was busy. I've been in rehab. I didn't want to say anything in case I couldn't finish. I wanted it to be a surprise. Please, just come home Robert?"
He could feel them all looking at him expectantly, one of them pulling at his hand to lead him with them. Robert could never have imagined that one little act of sacrifice could give him everything he wanted. As his family lead him off, all Robert could think was-
I've got you now you, motherfucker.
He understood the spell now, giving you what you most desired and leading you away. It was more powerful than it was artful. He would even go so far as to call it clumsy. As nice as all of what he experienced was Robert was no fool. His children would never love him, hell they would probably never even like him. Virginia would never get sober. This was all too perfect to be real. Once he knew that, it was easy to resist the compulsion to follow, although he still went after them. Shifting into their siren forms Robert and the rest of his family moved quickly through the ocean.
The farther they went, the harder it became for Robert to resist the compulsion to keep going. The fact that he didn't want to stop going in that direction made it even more difficult to keep his wits about him. He knew that the family with him wasn't real, that it wasn't his family, but the compulsion to keep going after them was strong. It was easy to see that they were heading toward another section of beach but before they actually got there, Robert stopped.
Once he was on the beach, he knew that he wouldn't be able to turn back. Already the compulsion was too strong. He had to get back to Lara and Corrine and let them know what he had found. If they knew where everyone was kidnapped then they could get them out. All he had to do was turn and swim back the way he came, but his body refused. It didn't move any closer to the beach, but he couldn't make himself swim away.
As if the spell could sense his resistance, it increased in pressure, pushing against him until resisting it was physically painful. His head felt like it was going to split open, as if there were literal hooks in his skull, trying to pull him toward that beach. Glancing toward the beach he could see his family there, pleading for him to join them. Each one of them looked utterly devastated and brokenhearted that he wasn't coming. The pain in their eyes at his refusal to come to them, to be a family with them, was all too real and familiar to Robert. He had hurt each and every one of them like this in real life, no doubt.
If he thought that going to them would have actually relieved any of that pain, he would have done it. But the truth of the matter was that his family would never be pleased with his presence. None of them would ever look at him like that. The hurt? That would probably always be there, but never that desire to have him mend it with his presence.
But still, he couldn't swim away. Every time he tried it felt like he was going to pass out from the pain. There was only one other thing he could think to do that might help. There was a reason he had accepted Lara as his matriarch and her aunt before her. There were certain benefits that came with being part of a community under a matriarch. Pushing out with his magic, Robert called to Lara. It was nothing fancy, nothing more than an "SOS" or a 911 call.
He didn't know how long he could resist the magic, didn't know if she would find him before he gave in or went mad from the pain, but it should help. It should give her a better idea of where to look for everyone else. Or maybe, if he was lucky, she would arrive in time to save him.
Fortunately, Robert fit all of those qualifications. His profession and often his life had relied on being a master of his abilities, he wasn't some human or child to be ensnared by another siren's magic, especially not when he was expecting it. A Little Chat [Closed to Will]
Nov. 14th, 2014 03:11 pmWill had a very nice boat. Much more tasteful than his own, Robert had to admit, even if it was considerably smaller. If Robert ever retired he'd like to get a boat like Will had, just big enough to live in without being too oppulent. Not that Robert thought he would ever retire, he would probably die working.
Today wasn't about work though. Today was a social visit to his son-in-law that was a bit overdue. He hadn't approached the young man in public or at his home out of respect for Corry. While Robert wasn't afraid of causing a scene it wasn't what his little star would have wanted. So at the moment he was lounging on the deck of Will's boat, waiting for the boy to come back from his swim. It was anchored a short ways off shore and seemed the perfect time and place to have a little chat.
Sipping a beer, one of his own brew, he waited for Will to get back so that they could have their little chat.

Robert pulled up to the motel on the edge of town in an old, beat up truck. It was the perfect sort of camoflauge for when he wanted to move about without attracting attention. Not that very many people would be interested in him but it was best to avoid people when he could. Especially right now.
There was an almost 100% chance that this idea would fall through completely. It was always harder to convince someone of something when they wanted to hate you. And Abigail really wanted to hate Robert. Not that she didn't have reason to, but she also wanted to.
"Abigail," he called out, jumping out of the truck and knocking on the door to her motel room. "I've got something to show you."

Oct. 4th, 2014 10:02 pmThe ship was big, ridiculously so almost, although Robert knew that docking in Siren Cove it wouldn't stand out too much. It would have been an embarrassment to pull up in something so ostentatious but it wasn't just a ship, it was his home as well. Also, his brother owned part of it so it had only partially broken his bank when he purchased it. The fact that it was also a business expense helped, but only some. Speaking of business...
"Marucs, make sure you bleach that section of the deck," he said, speaking to the young man currently rinsing away the blood on the back deck.
"Absolutely Mr. Flynn. And I just want to thank you again and say what an honor it was to serve under you."
Robert thanked the young man and clapped him on the shoulder before heading back inside. He liked Marcus and would be sad to see him go. It had only taken a tiny nudge of his power to earn such unquestionable devotion from the young man, already so eager to please. But Marcus had found love and was looking to settle down. Speaking of which...
"Marcus," he said, sticking his head back out the door. "Make sure that..."
"Madison?" Marcus provided helpfully.
"Right. Make sure that Madison is ready to debark as soon as we dock."
It didn't take much longer for them to dock and Robert took the time to make himself as presentable as possible. He didn't see Madison again once they had docked and didn't care. Siren Cove beckoned him and he had a lot to do here in a short amount of time. There were people he wanted and needed to see. Some of them might even want to see him too. Others definitely didn't want to.
"Excuse me," he said, flashing a smile at the first person he came across on the street. "Do you know if the Quill is still the best place to get a cup of coffee in town?"

Oct. 4th, 2014 10:31 amNote: Much of his history is taken from Allie, Leah, Mia and Alex, who already had it established via Robert being their father.
CHARACTER NAME: Robert “Jack” Flynn
CHARACTER AGE: 46
SPECIES: Siren
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: A Siren Cove native, Robert Jack Flynn is the son of two sirens very much in love but also quite poor. He showed considerable talents from a young age with exceptional charisma and persuasive powers and swore to use his talents to get rich and get out of Siren Cove.
( TL;DR Robert knocks up several women. )
PERSONALITY: Robert is a bastard, but he’s maybe the most charismatic and charming bastard you’ll ever meet. Perhaps Robert’s greatest attribute is his ability to seem completely sincere about things. If he tells you that he has an investment that will make you rich, you’ll believe it. If he says he’ll definitely be there for your birthday that year despite missing the last few years? You might be tempted to believe him.
( TL;DR Robert is a sneaky bastard )
LIFESTYLE: Robert has had a lot of financial ups and downs over the years but lately has seemed to be more up than down, mostly thanks to the wisdom of his brother. Robert is wealthy but doesn’t spend carelessly. His one concession to this is his home, a luxury yacht. Perfectly fitting his nomadic, siren lifestyle his yacht is staffed by a small, well paid and (somewhat siren induced) loyal crew that he trusts. While he has other places in a few major cities, his yacht is what he considers home.
While he does enjoy the finer things in life he’s grown out of needing them to prove to himself that he’s finally made it. He’s just as willing to admit he loves food truck fare as he does Kobe beef and a fine wine. His tailored suits hang right next to his flannel shirts in his closet
POWERS & ABILITIES: As a siren, Robert has spent decades honing his abilities, learning how to manipulate people into doing what he wants with just the slightest bit of influence. In his siren form his scales are dark grey and metallic looking.
Robert is physically imposing as well, both as a survival trait and to help with cons. He can play the big, dumb bruiser with no brains as well as the slick but physically intimidated banker who has never thrown a punch in his life.

Plotting Post!
Oct. 4th, 2014 10:01 amRobert Flynn is a 46 year old Siren Cove navite, although he hasn't been around much the last 27 years. He's travelled all over the world as a salesman and conman.
You may know him as the father of Corrine Flynn. And April Ross. And Bach Jones. And Grace Dubois. And others.
Did you know Robert growing up? Do you not know who your father is and think it might be him? Was there a night of passion between the two of you? Did you loan him money and get rich/poor as a result?
I want any and all connections!
